2004 Radio question
Hi guys. Thanx for the warm welcome!
Hope you can enlighten me. I test drove a 2003 3.2Di-D LWB and it had a very fancy radio complete with lcd touch screen and all.
Ended up buying a 2004 model, but is a bit disappointed with the std 'tape deck' with separate cd player. Also noticed that the fan and aircon buttons on the 2003 were positioned lower down due to the lcd screen taking up more space on the dash.
Was this 'lcd' job an optional extra or did it only come with certain models?
Can I still buy this set up and would I be able to easily install it in my model?

Hi Just DI-D it, cool handle!

A 2003 with an LCD with a touch screen would have been a retrofit, not a factory option.

The aircon controls can be moved down leaving a 2DIN(?) space to fit whatever. There are a few options - like the Caska units (but many people not happy with the integral mapping on those) and also look on ebay for everything from JVC units to china specials.

NNB Make sure you get the right adapter cables - much better than cutting into the original harnesses.

A few members of the local forum have gone one of other of these routes - I am sure they will respond to your post. Also use the search function on this site to find their posts.

Happy spirited motoring.

Thanx for the reply.
In the one I tested, the Mitsubishi badge appeared when I turned on the radio. Looked very original.

You can sekeçt the badge on the aftermarket china imports... I have done the same... Got my unit from a company in Jhb at very cheap price compared to caska and others. Works well. Its definiately not factory option. The only mission is to move rhe aircon buttons down... Need some cutting to the panels... About 2-3mm needed to fit it. Good luck- it is well worth the effort
