Gen 4 'Audio Communication Error'

Hi All
I've not seen anything relating my problem but apologies if it is covered elsewhere.
I have 'Audio Communication Error' message popping up on the screen when the radio option is selected. The display does not show the usual information relating to the stations selected etc.. But aside from the message, everything else works fine.
The dealer says I need to have a 'reset' done, hooked up to their diagnostics equipment. Not usually a problem but an inconvenience in this case as it is a 200km round trip to the dealer.
Has anyone else had any experience with this. Is their a 'shortcut' I can do myself. The dealer does not sound too sure about this at all.
Hope someone can help!

I have experienced this. I posted the solution under the "Caska Failure" thread. U will see I tiny hole on the bottom right hand side of the front face of the unit. That is the reset button. Take a paper clip, bend straight and insert in tiny hole and press for about 5secs to reset unit. Make sure ur ignition is on i.e unit must be powered up.

I can't see any pinhole on the radio facia? It would be great if it as simple as this!
I wonder if we have the same unit?

I have found and read the Caska thread. Tx
My unit is not anything as fancy, no GPS and stuff like that. Just a programmable radio/CD unit.
Must be an older unit, my vehicle is a Gen 4 2008 model.
Damn!

eish bummer, feel ur pain. Was in the same situation, also a fair distance from the dealer and had done 2 trips already to have the issue resolved. Salesman guy asked if he could help, told him my problem and he said, "oh that's easy to fix" bang, few seconds later I was on my. Previously the guys from the workshop had the whole unit out, soldering connections etc. Suppose I was just lucky to come across this guy...

p.s. I also had the same message displayed "Audio Communication Error" only difference is I had no radio GPS etc.

Well unless I can figure out where to 'bang' the thing it looks like a trip to the dealer when I can make a plan.
Thanks for the advice, at east I know it's not something simple I should have worked out by reading the manual!

I also had a similar problem on my 2008 Gen4 when I stilled owned it. If I recall correctly it was just a connector at the back of the unit that pulled out somehow. I had to take it to the dealers to fix. At that stage it was still under motorplan so had no cost. Not sure if they also replaced the connector or just plugged it back in.

Wouldn't it be nice if, like we could back in the day, look behind/under the dashboard and check the wiring ! Oh well, that's progress for you.
But thanks for the info.

Hey Salty Had the same problem, fixed itself when I replaced the car battery (one dead cell) Try disconecting your battery for a couple of min first. Well, maybe a bit longer. The battery swop out took about 30 min as the "replacement" battery had the poles on the wrong side and they had to send away for the right one.

Hi
I don't think my battery is the problem. I also have a second battery hooked up as well that should kick in if the primary was faulty.
But I have been wondering if a 'reboot' would do the trick. It fixes most electronic mysteries.
Maybe that's my next move?
Thanks for the help.
