Rear Seat Reclining Problem

Hi Guys

I hope this is the correct thread I'm posting in.

I drive the 2005 3.2 LWB, the problem is that the right rear seats' cable -which allows you to recline the seat- keeps on popping out every time you pull on the lever on the side of the seat. Has anyone had this problem before and how do I fix it?

Sorry, I have not read about that happening before.

Is it possible to post a picture of the area where the cable attaches?

Did this problem start all of a sudden or can you link it to some event?

Will post pictures as soon as I have a look at it again this weekend, perhaps I'll also find the solution for the problem.

Adjusting the cables is pretty simple, getting the seat up is very difficult. The cable does not go directly from the lever to the clips, but via other levers and cables. I did find that the position of the back rest can affect the way the seat lifts. Unfortunately there is no simple way to do this repair.

If everything else fails, try:

McCarthy's Auto Trimmers

They are in Diep Rivier, Cape Town. Not sure whether they operate in other cities, but they will probably be able to point you to someone if you are not in Cape Town.

They came with their mobile workshop and fixed mine at my office - no hassles!
