Hi Guys, sold my gen3 Shorty and bought a 2007 Gen4 LWB recently. Got a problem with the Radio/CD controls on the steering(not Working) Radio and CD as well as display works fine manually as well as the Speed Control on the other side of the Steering wheel. Any suggestions?

Thats a tough one to answer
It might be something simple like a poor connection where the harness enters the audio unit.Thats the easiest place to start to eliminate the odds.
Remove the 2 vents and then pull the audio "face" off.The audio unit behind the face has 4 screws to unscrew.Once off you simple pull it out and unplug the harnesses.Clean with an earbud and reconnect.
If the problem is not solved then it lies in the steering. That i cannot help you with as I am to scared to open my steering up as i am afraid the airbag pops out while I am busy.

Thanks for the reply JohnG.Discovered this weekend that if I move the steering raplidly from left to right and back, it does make contact sometimes. Mostly its dead however. Afraid the problem lies inside the steering wheel perhaps at the spiral. Also not going to fiddle there. Would rather take it to Mits to sort.
Regards

Had the same problem. At the regular service I asked Bryanston to fix it. Was told that the "springs" on the steering wheel control were worn and needed to be replaced. Ordered the parts and will let me know when it's arrived. This was about a year ago! No "springs" in stock yet. But, there are some screws on the back of the steering wheel controls, so I'm sure this is a easy DIY fix without setting the airbag off.

Mine has the same problem, it is definitely the clockspring that connects the buttons to the radio. I was told it is about R2000 odd to repair. I haven't bothered yet but I want it done sometime, maybe at the next service.

So the Black Beast had to go for it's 200 000 service, and I remembered the clock spring on the steering was broken. Told the dealer to replace it if they have stock. O my, whata mistake to maka! R 2 824.60 added to the service cost. Just so that I can adjust the radio volume from my steering wheel!

I need mine done too, I might just bite the bullet to get it done if the finances allow but it is an expensive little exercise
