Hi guys,

So on my Gen 2 3.5 V6 auto, the following happens:
When shifting up form 3rd to 4th, the torque converter is unlocked, and then locks with a decrease in rpm of about 300rpm. All normal.
But when I'm going up a slight uphill and press on the throttle a bit, the box shifts straight down to 3rd, without unlocking the torque converter in 4th first... I've tried in normal A/T mode and power mode, I tried by very gently pressing the throttle, but there's nothing to do, the box always goes straight down to 3rd, and up to 4th unlocked, then locked if I release the throttle a bit.

Is this what the box is supposed to do? As far as I know about auto boxes, it shouldn't do that, but can someone confirm?
I've got an oil and filter change on my to do list, as there's also a slight slip going from a stand still when hot. And the lady's got a few kms on the odo and I'm not too sure how the previous owners treated her.
The TPS is also acting funny sometimes, so I thought maybe a jump in resistance value could be interpreted as a kick down command, therefore skipping the unlocking of the torque converter, but I've tried at different pedal positions, so I doubt this is the cause.

Any ideas or advice are welcome.

Question: Has this car behaved differently in the past?
If it is anything like the Gen 3 which has an inclinometer built into the box, you can expect the box to behave differently when going up an incline than it would do on a flat. i.e. The car knows it is going up an incline and the logic takes that into account resulting in a more aggressive change pattern. Just a thought...

I didn't know about that on the Gen3, that's quite clever. Not sure if it applies to the Gen2s though.

And to answer your question, no it's been behaving this way since I've got it.
