Front Ball Joint Spacers for Gen 2

Hi All

I need some advice please. I have 1997 SWB and would like to install some spacers on the front suspension to avoid having to crank up the torsion bars and lose ride quality.

In the Gear section of the April 2013 edition of SA 4X4, there is a short write up about them. It says they are easy to install. They lift the front end about 35mm and they fit just below the upper ball joint. They actually look quite easy to make as well. What I would like to know is will I need longer ball joints and if so, where could I get them?

Regards
Michael

Hi All

I have attached a copy of the piece in SA4x4 magazine
My brother is a tool maker and will be able to make these spacers. Can make some extras if anyone is interested. I just need to know the answer to my question regarding the ball joints.

Regards
Michael

HI Micheal,

I recently did the upper and lower ball joints on my 1997 LWB and
I dont think you will have a problem with the length of the bolt but it might be a mission to try compress the shock to get the nut on the thread,

I had to jack the wish bar at the bottom to get the upper balljoint nut on thats without the spacer

Hope it helps

Got some Camil coil over shocks and what a difference!

My 97 LWB was dipping and snaking under braking - GONE!! I got a decent height gain and actually need to drop the nose now when going for alignment, it is too high now.

Hi. I'd be very interested in fitting a set of these and raising my car! Is the offer still there?

I've a S2 LWB. And have embarrassed a few very modified competitors with mine only having a new set of shocks, lol. Am having fun with this Mitsy!
