Hi all.
I wish to fit a dual battery system, but intend to use old school technology. The battery and cables are alreay fitted and I now need to fit the solenoid.
The large terminals are easy: connect in line with the battery cable to the second battery. The smaller terminals (activation of coil) negative goes to earth but the positive? Can I connect direct to the battery (with in line fuse)or do I need to go scratching for a positive wire from the ignition switch?
Thanks
best is to find a 12v source that is live with engine running but not when the engine cranks.
Thanks 4ePikanini.
I dug out an old article which prefered the Natioanl Luna unit but the only magic in this is there is a delay timer relay which only kicks after about 30 seconds to pull the solenoid in. Any idea where to get one of these relays?

Stocked at most 4x4 centres - Outdoor Warehouse typically has a rack full of National Luna components. Can also be sourced at Frontrunner fitment centres etc.Mitsu Fan wrote:Thanks 4ePikanini.

Bought the Cole Hersee solenoid Part number 24059 (85Amp 12V) directly from the distributors Cariboo Distributors (http://www.cariboodistributors.com) in Pretoria 012 660 2222. You have to pay cash as they don't normally deal with the public. I just arrived (it looked like a house) and they sold to me.They also sell the Brad Harris connectors. If I remember correctly I paid about 50% of the price asked by National Luner. I also connected the relay activation coil to my cigarette lighter positive to ensure that it cannot stay on when the car is turned off. Hope this helps you.
