Water tank option for Gen4 LWB

I have just bought the Pajero after running a Fortuner D4D. I had sorted the packing in the back using a DIY fridge slider, and the rest in the Makro black crates with interlocking lids. With 2 kids and the camp gear the Fortuner was too tight and not great for a loaded roof rack . The issue with the Gen4 is that the length of the load bed is about 50mm too short for the wedge shaped water tank behind the rear seat AND the two 400x600mm boxes loaded crossways one behind the other. I have found on the internet, for about 45.00 Pounds UK, a 50 litre flexible tank that will fit in the jump seat cavity. In fact a 100 litre is available & the space is about 80 litres. They are designed for yachting, and to be put in any available awkward space. The outer is a reinforced nylon fabric, with a polymer bladder. Has anyone tried a similar scheme? Or know of a local supplier of something similar?
Regards
Iain

Ian

This is what I've done with mine: http://www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum/sho ... 534&page=2 See post no 20.

On this thread you can see what others have done too, some neat ideas

The tank fits snug between the rear seats and the board carrying the fridge. I tie it down onto the existing strap thingies.
I can fit four of the smaller ammo boxes underneath no problems, and the whole come out in 10 minutes with 4 screws. The tank I only put in if I will need water. If I dont take the tank, I put camping chairs in there

Thanks for the input. I have the same tank, and am making the platform currently. It is the usual thing. Everything fits just NOT.... I will stare at the problem over a cold beer or two and see what I come up with. In the next month I should know if I go the ammo box route or solve the Makro box issue. Out of interest what are the overall dimensions of the ammo boxes? If you have one handy.....
I see you have a can of brain lube in your DIY project as well!

Hi Iain,

Not sure what part of the country you are in?

I also have the sloped Pioneer water tank fitted permanently behind the seats in my Gen3, plus a 4 * ammo box drawer system (very modified Frontrunner version). NB Ammo boxes, not Wolfpacks.

If you are anywhere in the northern Jhb suburbs you are welcome to take a look.

Hi Iain,

I had the same idea as you. I have a drawer system in the back, and was looking around for a "bladder tank" for the 3rd row seat cavity in the floor. Safari centre sells something similar, but a bit less than the required 80l. I am currently looking at 3 smaller(25ltr) bladders that are used to supply reagents in for labs. (only problem is that I don't know how safe the water from there will be for drinking since the are used.

My other option was to mould a tank inside the cavity(or a scrap one from the scrapyard, not to damage my own one) from something like fibreglass...but then again no-one can tell me how good fibreglass works for drinking water either? This fibreglass tank will be removed when not in use.

pics of my home made, 100% aluminium, removable drawer system attached...ok 98% since the runners are mildsteel.
