Hi Guys

So I've had this knock on my vehicle for a while now especially when driving corrugated roads, sounds like the shock mounts is due for a change. While I'm having the mounts changed I also want to have new shocks fitted to the vehicle.
I've done a bit of reading on it and it seems that there are lots of opinions about what to fit.

Seeing that I want to fit a roof rack with tent etc. I also though that an uprated coil at the back would be a good idea to carry the load of the fully laden vehicle.

So far I've only enquired at the dealership for prices for the shocks which to my surprise was not too expensive at R1860 for front and R1175 for rear not fitted.

My question is what would be the best option regarding the shocks and uprated coils?

Sorry forgot to mention that I drive a 2005 LWB.

The noise could easily be a rubber bush in one of the shock mountings (of course, it could be many other things too).

Personally I fitted EFS springs and EFS shocks plus air helpers at the back and EFS springs and shocks at the front - but that was before Uys made spacers available.

If I was doing it again now I would have used spacers + air helpers at the back. It would probably have given a slightly softer ride, but still good clearance and a way to compensate for load sag and would have been more cost-effective.

As far as shocks go there is nothing wrong with OEM / KYB (who I believe are the makers of the OEM shocks anyway).

i have done 140,000km on my 2007 gen 4 SWB and replaced the shocks with Monroe adventure. My decision was based on global forums that recommended Monroe.The rubbers were shot on the old ones.I did expect a major improvement on ride qaulity but it is hard to tell.The overall feel and roadfeedback has improved and the handling is much better.The rattles did not disapear....!
I noticed that they are made in the USA.Total cost at Speedy's Brits including wheel alignment came to R4300.

185000Km on OME

I upgraded the front coils to heavy duty ones at around 140000Km as the front was sagging (due to winch)

I fitted EFS coils and springs a year back and find them very stiff, resulting in an uncomfortable (albeit very stable) ride, however towing is good with no sagging. Tyre pressure on gravel is around 1.8 bar. I am now considering OME to soften the ride, but they are hellish expensive.
Anyone in the forum who has first hand experience of both EFS and OME systems? Cheers
