Hi,
I have a problem with my 3.2 DiD 2001 Pajero. The Automatic Transmission broke and the car was stationary for a couple of months before I changed it. That done, A/T mounted on the car, one test drive, all was fine. The car was left with the transfer box on position 4LLC. Next day, it stayed on 4LLC, doesn’t want to change to any position even though the gear level is moved. I tried to go for a drive and after a couple of meters the transfer box goes to neutral. Which is weird as there is no neutral there. Probably the gears stay in between or something. Anyway, turning the car off and leaving it for some time, it goes back to 4LLC, drive a few meteres and N is back. We get the transfer box error 33 but no idea what do we have to change and where is it (apparently some kind of switch).
Please help as my mechanic has no idea what to do.
Thanks
What oil did you put back into the boxes? These Mitsu boxes want only the Mitsu Dia oils if I understand it correctly.
Also try and clear faultcode by disconecting battery for a few hours and then reconecting.

Thanks for the reply Cats,
As far as the oil is concerned, the transfer oil didn't change and the mechanic says he put the right one in the A/T. However I'm not sure he did the right thing. Apparently, the oil should be sort of red colour but the mechanic told me that he put some kind of yellow coloured oil. this is probably something that I have to find out as well.
However, I don't thing that even wrong oil in A/T will affect the transfer box error.
I disconnected the battery, and tomorrow we'll see what happens.

if golden stuff went into the automatic gearbox it is stuffed.
Pull the dipstick and check the colour.
