Hi

There is a strange noise when braking, it happens periodically with no pattern! It sounds like a grinding noise as if metal om metal. I took my Pajero to Mitspro in Centurion and they said that the pads are good and then cleaned the brakes and sanded them. This has helped nothing (money wasted).

Has anyone experienced this on a Gen 2 Pajero V6 3500 LWB? She has 360,000 on the clock.

I plan to take her in for a service within July and was wondering if anyone know of someone great that can now and in the future work on my Pajero? I read about Mistpro in the WegRy but my first experience was not great. Are they worth a second try or is there someone else that can do the job well every time?
I'm asking as this is my first Pajero with quite some milage. I want someone to give a good inspection so that I can fix/replace anything needing attension. Plan to still do many trips in my NEW pre owned Pajero.

Have a look at the wheel bearings, if they are on their way out they can make a rumble or grinding noise when they fail.

Also search for 4epikanini's post on the inner shaft bearing failure, could also manifest as a grinding noise.

Some brake pads also have a metal strip as a wear indicator that makes an awful screech when braking to warn you they are nearly done(4mm left or so) , make sure it is definitely not that as it can be an intermittent noise at first.

Grinding noise is generally metal on metal, it will only get worse (more expensive to fix) until you find the issue.

Did you get the brake disks checked as well as the pads? I got my disks changed after hearing occasional slight grinding when breaking heavily. Huge improvement when breaking and no noise at all. Its easy to check the disks too. Just run your finger over the edge of the disk and if there is a deep lip between the disk area and the end of the disk then you most likely need to replace your disks. The disks could be warped too

Great, the disks have no ridge, I checked before I bought and again later. According to Mitspro the pads are still good!

Thanks, will make sure to check, service and /or replace these items and some in the service I have planned in the first week of July

Did you get the issue with the brakes sorted. I have the same issue. Checked the brakes and they are still good. Please let me know it is driving me crazy.
