Knock and squeal

Hi folks, I still owe you some photos and report of the kgalagadi trip I just came back from, but still sorting out the pics...
In the mean time, I've noticed after all the corrugations that I've got a slight high pitch squeal when the wheels move (its very soft - can only be heard when in parking lots with echo, no music / air blowing in car). seems from the front, no noise when stationary. Further to that I also seem to have a bit of a knock when my front right shock extends (e.g. when coming over a speed bump)
Dont think these are related... But any ideas?
I've still got original coils and shocks (now at 140k kms)... Maybe shock is kaput (for the knock...)?

Hi there, have a look at the ball joints, squeak/squeal might be from one on its way out. Just had the same on mine...

Will have a look - going to have to take her in - noticed a bit of diesel leaking from the diesel tank cover

I just replaced my Shocks at 147k km and its made a big difference in handling. However I still have a knock as well when braking as if I am in bumper to bumper traffic. It feels like its in the gearbox tunnel but I have had a mech check all the engine and gearbox mounts and nothing was found. I replaced top ball joints as well. My bottom ball joints are as stiff as new so I am stumped as well.

It did not happen if there are no photos! So no Kgalagadi trip?

Thanks rad - will look into that.
Indeed Lock... Has a heck of a comeback week so have not done anything other than copy them on to my PC.

OK. We'll front shocks kaput...
Probably not the issue but the squeal now seems intermittent...
Will replace shocks first and then see if its still there

I also have a squeal when pulling away. Notice it every morning pulling out of my driveway. Thought it might just be some dirty brakes... Should i be worried. I think its only when pulling away from standstill and cornering at the same time....

As mentioned by previous posts, maybe have your ball joints checked out.
Thats next on my list.
at the same time - if the squeal is so faint and intermittent as in my case, and there is no observable problem then I might just stick to the old "if it aint broke, dont fix it" slogan.
I am a bit paranoid when it come to maintenance (especially preventative)
