Will have some more info at a later date but here is what I am busy with right now:

One 1970 Gannet 4 berth folding caravan. I had one years ago and it is quicker to setup than my trailer/tent I had. It weighs in at 630Kg empty.

To do list:

URGENT
1. Replace the vrot floor sections - Nearly done
2. Sand/repair all interior woodwork and varnish
3. Replace all the lids on the benches (3mm hardboard gets soft after 40 years)
4. Seal all joints and hinges
5. Refurbcheckpack wheelbearings. brakedrum and brakeshoes
6. The previous owner painted the exterior with PVA. Remove and respray
7. Roadworthy and register before Augustus 2010
9. Fix minor problems on tent.
IN TIME
8. Check/repair fridge and stove (replace gaslines and regulator
9. Install permanent lights interior and exterior
10. Add a nosecone
AND LATER
11. Lenghten the springarms and shock mounting points (get some lift for 15" wheels)
12. Change tent and skirt to accomodate extra height

Believe me, this list will grow as time goes by

Dit is lekker speel hierdie.

This looks like great fun. Restoring a caravan is always a great challenge and ultimately rewarding when done. My biggest suggestion is to build in lightness, save weight where ever you can. Instead of replacing the lids with hardboard rather go for 4mm ply wood, it is much stronger and weighs half of masonite.

Why register before Aug 2010? Is that your personal deadline?

RWC is not a problem. The municipal yard only check lights and tyres. The AA center does test the brakes as well .

It is licensed until then so it gives me enough time to fix and change at leisure.

I cannot believe its two years going with this already. Just been reminde'd of the post by a fellow Pajero owner on another forum.

99% of my ticklist have been done. I still need to do the bigger wheels (no budget) and complete the cosmetic work outside.
