Gen 4 Compass

Hi gentlemen
I have a 2007 3.2 GLX Gen4 LWB. I have a problem with the compass. I know its really a gimmick but i hate when even gimmick's dont work as they should.
The problem is that the compass will work only at times and at other, only move between North and North East
Is this a calibration issue or is there a sensor that is maybe faulty? If it is a sensor, where is it and does anyone know how much they are?

Hi Mike,
That compass is totally useless in my opinion. One should set the magnetic declination for your country, but my experience is that doesn't really help much.

Hi Mike
I agree with Roelf. The compass in the Gen 4 is rubbish and only gives you a general direction, but can be out by 25% at times. This even after you have adjusted it. For some reason the updates in direction are not instantaneous, so you could be looking West with the compass still convinced your going North!

Hi Mike. I stored my cellphone in a niche just below the display in my Gen 3, the magnet holding the cover closed over the screen caused havoc with the compass direction... Not perhaps something similar in your case?

I have a 2016 SWB Pajero and the compass has been giving problems it is stuck on SW and has been to the dealership numerous time I even wrote to the HO and the explanation I received it is caused by external factors and yet hey do not seem to want to find a solution but rather blame it on a bunch of inexplicable reasons, does any one have a remedy please, I understand it is not a GPS but the minimum requirement is that it should work .
