So after my encounter with a minor rock https://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/view ... =26&t=6204 which ripped by gearbox mounting out - repair cost R28 000 (thank goodness for insurance) I decided an upgrade to her under belly was in order.

I was disappointed to note that the paint job on the suspension parts is very poor and rusting quite badly from stone chips (25 000km and some gravel).

Anyway cleaned and treated all the rust I could get to and then resprayed and finally liberal coating of clear Tectyl.
Painted and Tectyl coated.

For the plates I added Lynx bash plate and transfer case protectors which I also sprayed black first. No issues with quality and they fit very nicely and I especially like the fact that there no protruding bolt heads - all recessed. Quite heavy though so sump plug access hatch will be handy and it also looks like the oil filter can be removed from the side without removing the transfer plate protector. Total cost R6,600 - worth doing since this is about what my excess was :)

Thanks for sharing, I've got the Stofpad bashplates so I'm all good.

Nice Agree that those plates are HEAVY, but rather the extra weight than losing the gearbox far out in the bush

Those black plates are blerrie handsome, well done.

I've got the Stofpad one for the belly. Because the V6 doesn't have the lowslung intercooler am I happy with the plastic Mitsu one under the nose. I wonder what these things do to cooling??
