The OME shocks on my 2005 Gen 3 DiD LWB have become a bit 'bouncy' on the rear. They were fitted 90,000 kms ago, so I have had good service out of them. The front shocks are N129S and the rear N152.

Apart from the bounce, I am enjoying the softer ride the worn shocks are giving. I always found the OME shocks very hard, especially when the car is lightly laden as it is 80% of the time. Apart from a second battery and the OME suspension, I do not have any other accessories fitted.

So now I have to decide what shocks to fit. I have the 2915 and 2917 coils on the car. Ideally I should stick to OME, but would love to get a softer ride than I have with the N129s and N152 shocks which were the 'softest' at the time.

Are there any OME options that I should consider? What about other brands of shocks? Will they work with the OME coils considering the 40mm lift?

Any suggestions will be welcome.

Othet shocks will work, even thw standard ones. On the Gen3 and Gen4 Pajero shocks are more or less the same length, even with a lift. The lift comes from the coils not the shocks and longer shocks serve no purpose on the Independent suspension. BUT. You will probably find that the harder coils will not work well with standard or softer shocks as it will just lead to the shocks be8ng able to cope with the harder "bounce" of the coils.

Hav8ng said that. Any harder type shock should work with harder coils. For instance I had Ironman coils and Gabriel HDP shocks on my gen3 and they worked well together. Better than the Ironman shocks to be honest.

PS you can't have your bread buttered on all the sides. Upgraded load carrying coils and shocks will always be more harder unladed.

Agree with CATS, just stay away from the Iron Man setup because I've heard a lot of reports that owners have taken them out and replaced with OME, EFS or Tough Dog which are much better than Iron Man. I've got the heavy duty EFS setup (coils & shocks) and yes its a little harsh when empty and driving slowly but it works well at higher speeds and while towing.

I was going to stick with OME, but am now told that ARB no longer supply the standard OME Nitrochargers and that I will have to fit the Nitrocharger Sport shocks which are even harder than the older ones. Bummer.
