Comfortable tires for Gen 3?

By the looks of it, I need new tires for my Gen 3 LWB DiD as the blocks on the tread are worn uneven and the tires can no longer be balanced for high speed (120kph). The current tires are Geolander AT/S.
I am looking for tires that are quiet and comfortable on tar, will handle the Kgalagadi corrugations but will also not let me down in Botswana. They must also handle the Cape winters.
These are my experiences with AT tires on a Tucson and the Paj:
1. Duelers A/T on Tucson - comfortable but prone to punctures
2. Coopers A/T on Paj - tough but very uncomfortable - came with car and were replaced within a month.
3. Pirelli Scorpion - sports car handling, strong sidewalls as proven in Botswana, quiet, but very hard and uncomfortable on corrugations - does not look like an A/T tire.
4. Geolander AT-S G012 - compromise tire - car handles like a truck on tar, but is comfortable on gravel - after 4 years, two of the tires developed a loud roar and no cannot be balanced - told it is due to movement of blocks on the tread.
I am recommended to fit the Grabbers. Or should I stick with the Geolanders? Any other suggestions other than BFG?

I am in exactly the same boat as you, i am about to do an Eft to mufasa tyres for the michelin LTX AT II tyres.
My Short list is:
1. Pirelli scorpion ATR (R1970.00 ea.)
2. Michelin LTX AT II (R2350)
3. Yokohama geolander G012AT (R1705)
4. General Grabber AT (R1970)
Have had pirelli scorpion on my previous pajero, not long enough to test them properly but was happy with tar road noise levels. BFG's on currently, not happy with them. Very Noisy and don't balance well at all, uneven wear pattern too.
Decided to go for the michelin due to excellent milage reported by close friends and no sidewall damage reports, 3 friends all achieved over 100k km on their sets.
'nuff said.

Invoice attached.
Includes balancing, fitment & 4 wheel alignment. There is a bit of a back order on the Michelin's, will only get them early next month.

Thats a bit pricey for 16" tyres.
Autoquip have special on geolander at 1950 for 17" and 1890 for pirelli 17" tyres (incl vat)..The 16" will be slightly cheaper

I know, unfortunately those are the absolute BEST prices in Cape Town at the moment, have written prices from 5 well known shops and verbal prices from about another 10 (I have been shopping around for about a month now). I have also phoned autoquip here in durbanville, (cape town), their BEST price for Pirelli Scorpions was R2050 for 265/70R16 tyres. Add R400-R800 for the 75 profile, depending on brand.
Guess you guys up there have more buying power and therefore better prices.

It seems as if 17inch tyres are getting more available and cheaper than 16inch these days.
I am also starting to look at replacement AT tyres for Casper. The new BFG AT2 looks awesome but ouch, the prices! Will probably look at the Grabber AT2 or maybe Pirelli Scorpions or Micheline for my application, but have always had soft spot for BFG, they have always been good to me in the past.

HI CATs
Grabber AT was my first choice, but stock availability is a problem due to their popularity, might be difficult to get in an emergency due to a sidewall cut, etc... I paid for my Michelins' last night, they arrive in SA early September, I rather settled on a better mileage tyre that no-one has stock of

.
From my research the best estimated mileage on tyres was:
1. Michelin (100-115k km) - 3 of my mates confirm achieving this on their fortuners
2. BFG (90-100k km)
3. General Grabber AT (60k km)
4. Pirelli Scorpion ATR (60k km)
5. Yokohama Geolanders G012 (50k km)
6. Bridegstone Dueller 694 (55k km)

Just replaced all the tyres on my Gen3. Got Geolander G012 for R1800 each including everything. Only had them one day but they are so much quieter than BFG I had on before.

I had Bighorn muds on my SWB for about a year and then did the swap to AT tyres for a quieter ride. Opted for the Grabbers and cannot be happier... Okay maybe if they looked like the Bighorns I'll be happier

, but they are quiet, ride soft and handle the Cape winters extremely well.

Where did you get them for R1800? I was just quoted R2155 excluding VAT
