I drive a 1998 2800 Pajero with 336 000km on then clock. Last year my engine overheated and I replaced the engin with an exchange unit from a "reputable breaker" and this is when the epic began. Three engins later I thought my trouble was something of the past after I've rcalibrated the dieselpump and overhauled the injectors .However the turbo had a loud wistle sound and when I took the vehicle to a Turbo specialist they told me that my turbo seems to be fine but that the noise is caused by a broken manifold gasket. They also "think" that the rings might be damaged???
Currently I'm very frustrated as I have allready spend a considerable amount of money and still my vehicle is still not near it's original state.
Can any body recommend a honest mechanic with experience on this vehicle who can help? (Even in the Gauteng area)
Morning
Speak to Frank at Pretoria Diesel Centre at 355 Potgieter Street. Both I and Cats have dealt with him in the past.
He does not beat around the bush and only believes in running vehicles according to factory specs.
Good luck

Yes, I concur. For your 4m40 2.8Tdi diesel engine and the issues that you have the best guys to talk to in Pretoria is Pretoria Diesel Center. Mind you I used them many years ago so not sure how things are lately, but back then they were brilliant!. Frank or Mark was the guys to talk to. They will tell you exactly what is wrong and set the vehicle to original factory spec, not turbo tuning 'specialist' settings that will cause harm to the engine in the long run.
