Best Steering bellows/boot

Hi Guys

I need to replace my steering bellows and trying to make up my mind what is the best option to go for.

OEM
aftermarket - hard plastic
aftermarket - rubber.

Don't know what the pros and cons are of plastic vs rubber.

Car lives in the city with the Occasional Kruger/Kgalagadi trip. I don't mind paying for quality, looking for the most durable product.

SWB NM 3.2 DiD

Any Advice would be great, Syds suspension says the hard plastic is better, but I would have thought rubber is better as it wont crack with age.

James,

I replaced mine not to long ago with aftermarket rubber as OEM was not an option at that time(Short term fix).

The technician suggested I replace the aftermarket boots with OEM, as they are a whole lot thicker and stronger and will last a lot longer. The original boots on my 2001 lasted +-430 000 km.

I will replace mine with OEM as soon as the aftermarket rubber version starts showing enough wear...

My original cv boots covered 200 000 km, so I fitted Mitsu boots when these originals split. 45 000 km on and the new boots are fine, I don't expect these OE boots to fail in my lifetime. :D

Hi Guys

The previous 2 posts convinced me to go with OEM.

Just a note for anyone who comes across this in the future, the passenger side and driver side bellows are not the same length.

I don't know what the reason for this is, but if you get aftermarket, I am not sure if they will just give you two of the same length.

Something to keep in mind.
