I have been informend that my rear diff bushes are cracked. Apaprently Mitsu do not sell the bushes seperately but the whole arm for around R9000.00. Anybody had this before? What else can I do?

Which bushes are these? If it is the carrier bushes of the actual diff there are firstly no arms involved, and secondly they are sold separately. I had mine replaced on my old gen3.

Hi Jaco

I have a gen3 and had a bad knock from rear on gear changes.
Suspect was the bushes above the rear diff.
Got the whole speel that cannot just change bushes as they are press fit etc etc, have to change what they called the k-frame.Looks like a cast component sitting above the rear diff. Job was 16.5k but luckily the dealer covered it and not me. Sorry not to add any useful info.

CATS, where did you get the bushes done? I have heard of some guys in Nelspruit that do it. But I am in Midrand. Want to look at what all bushes are going to cost me.

@Jamgrey

If I recall correctly they were done by Mitspro at the time. I bought the original components from Mitsubishi myself.

Something doesn't sound right here.

If they are the two round bushes as seen when looking at the diff from the back, then they are replaceable. They do have to hammer the old ones out and then press the new ones in but its not a R9k job.

I had mine done by Dealer when I took it in for a backlash type noise. It made no difference.
I have heard elsewhere that they love to change them, saying that they are cracked when in fact there is still nothing wrong with them.

As DirtyBoy says, the two at the rear are replaceable, I paid R617.70 for the two from Mitsubishi about a year ago. The left and right are different part #s. The two at the front are not available separately, you have to buy the whole casting with bushes, with is apparently expensive as in R6000 plus. Because of this, I had the front rubber bushes replaced with polyurethane, as it was a lot less expensive. The labour for front and back was 5 hrs.

There is a set of aftermarket poly bushes for sale on Gumtree:

My subjective sense is that the diff is a bit more audible with the poly bushes than the original rubber ones, but other than that, no problem
