Battery Size

Hi Ya'll,

Brand new to this forum as a member but have read some VERY useful things over the years. I just picked up my 3rd Pajero, the first being a Montero living in the US Gen 1 1991, then after moving to Tanzania I have a 1997 Gen 2 2.5TD which is for sale all of which brought me to the Gen 3 2003 3.5l V6 which we just drove home from the port. I noticed upon starting it sounds like it wants to turn over 3 or 4 times before actually starting and upon investigation I see the battery does not fill up the battery tray. I am thinking it may be an undersized battery. Any ideas or recommendations for replacements? As I am in the center of the country there are no real car parts stores, so brand names won't help, but if you have specifics for the battery such as Cold cranking amps or anything else, much appreciated. I have all the manuals but as it is a Japanese import they are in Japanese. Again thank you as I do not want electrical issues with my beautiful brand new rig.

Long live PAJERO

I think you have another problem. If the battery can turn the engine it should be good enough. My 2002 starts before it even completed u full rev, at least it sounds like it. Even when the battery was so flat it barely turned the starter. The v6 has no starting problems. Remember to stay away from the gas pedal until it started.
