Hi - have a year 2000 NM Pajero 3500 done a low 102,000 kms and the dealer has suggested I get the auto flushed.
His comment was that flushing can solve most of the issues and I strongly suspect the auto has never been flushed.
It hold the gears too long versus the same vehicle I previously owned. Also there is some other clunking on light pedal overrun but otherwise its fine. A nice vehicle all round and I have owned them for 14 years.
Any comment appreciated as its surprising how little I have been able to find online re the benefits. Cheers folks.
Call 0833061848 ask henk he is The expert in this field he services pajero only
disconnect battery overnight to reset fuzzy logic of gearbox.
clunking may be the crossmember bushes.
Pull gearbox dipstick and wipe with toilet paper. Post a pic of the wipe mark here.

I own a Gen 3 GLS 3.8 SWB with 150k on the clock. During our last trip we did 5 passes in Kzn. My autobox went haywire when we got to Umhlaga.AVNZ wrote:Hi - have a year 2000 NM Pajero 3500 done a low 102,000 kms and the dealer has suggested I get the auto flushed.

Back home I did the complete flush of the box, I was skeptic as I still don't understand the dynamics. The ATF was almost completely black, so I reasoned that my last service was a bit of a waste. I had it done somewhere in Cenurion
The flush out set me back R 2300 all in with the box filter. I can tell you it is the best money ever spent. I have a different Paj all together. The gear shift is smooth, almost unnoticeable between gear shifts, it seems to have more power, more responsive. I'm thoroughly delighted.
So I would think that the dealer gave you solid advice.
Many thanks Zapiture.
As the song goes, "What a difference a day makes!" The changes are so smooth and the hanging onto the gears has gone. A delight to drive.
The other major benefit in the past year has been running 98 octane and the difference from 91 was major. Its not that we are paying more for the same experience but we are getting more bang for buck. So much quicker, less pedal. For some folk it is hard to get their heads around that.
Local auto electrical owner picked up on it so 98 it was. And the price has come down as well despite not being the main driver for change.
So its thanks from New Zealand to those who contributed to my issue.
Cheers
Alan
