Strange deep noise at rear Gen4 SWB

I have been trying to find the source of a strange noise at the rear of my 2009 SWB Gen4 with OME. The rattles etc I yet to get Kurt to fix (even the wife moans about them now) but this is something else.
It is a deep hollow "kadunk" whenever I go over / through a ditch. If one had to stand on an empty 44 gallon drum and dent the top with your foot is about the same noise !!!! For the life of me I can't find it. It is driving me nuts. Any ideas ?

1.Check if you set up the third row seats if it dissapears
2.Check that the bottlejack is secure in that gap of the third row and the headrests are strapped down that are in there
3.Check all the exhaust rubbers for any broken ones
4.Make sure the spare wheel is fastened properly
Try these

Yes chaps its a shorty. I have checked all the logical stuff (exhaust, spare wheel, stuff stored, Jack, etc) but it's a weird deep sound like I said sounds like a hollow container / metal panel buckling sound. Guess I am going for a drive while sitting in the rear! I was hoping someone had experienced it already.
I wonder if its not the OME suspension. The rear coil springs coils are wound closer together on the one end and further apart on the other end but same diameter throughout. I see the left & rear rear coil springs are fitted one the one way up & other one the opposite way down. ie one side's fitted the opposite way round to the other. Question - should it make a difference? If so which side up?
Added: Reading an Ausie forum thread the coil "bunched" side must evidently go to the top.

Its not maybe the rear door that needs adjusting?

Does the noise occur when your fuel tank is at certain levels only? My Hilux used to make a strange clunking noise moments after stopping or going through a bump, which became less and less as the fuel settled. It took me a while to work out what was happening, the first couple of times I thought someone had gently bumped into the back of me.
The Hilux only did this at three quarters full, I have noticed a similar effect on my Pajero Gen 4 LWB, but with a fuller tank. As the level drops, the noise goes away.

Hi Peterpot
I fitted a suspension lift kit from "stofpad" to my 2010 Gen 4 Pajero in Nov last year. At first it was quiet, but since I returned from my trip to Kruger in January(driving a lot of dirt roads, it is making a similar sound as yours. The only difference is that mine is coming from the front. Although it is also irritating, I accepted it realizing that it must have something to do with the increased tension on the suspension. A while back I read a article in the "Weg Ry" addressing the pro's & cons of a lift suspension.
I also wonder if the dirt (dust) could also play a roll in the noise.
For now I keep clunking around till I found a way to get rid of it.

Hello guys. Take out the grease nipples on the propshaft slip yokes. The slip yokes fill up with water if you pressure wash them or when you go through water with a hot drive train. Go around the block where there is minimal dust and see if any water came out of the grease nipple holes. My 2cents!
