Spacer lift

I recently fitted 17mm (front) and 21mm (rear) lift spacers on my Gen 4 LWB. Giving me about 42mm - 48mm lift. Since then the handling seems a bit floaty on tar and the ride bumpy. I've got Geolanders on and the Tyre pressure is currently 2.4 (front) and 2.3 (rear). Any comments will be much appreciated.

A lift will always make it feel like that and your pressures seem high because the sticker on the car says 2.2 rear and 2.0 front doesn't it?

Spacer lift makes the ride very bumpy. I took mine out in the end, but more because my spacers with the longer Ironman coils gave too much lift and I ended up having to replace a CV boot every 5000 or so kms.

Your Pajero looks cool by the way. Where did you get the black bonet guard? I am looking for one of those here in SA.

Thank Guys
I thought with that heavy Diesel engine that the front pressure should be harder without a load, but maybe it is a bit high. Some people say that I must fit stiffer shocks like Iron man Nitrogas for more stability , but I'm scared for an even harder ride.

Cats, the bonnet guard was made by our local Signage guy, out of Vynal, but you must use the right Vynal, 3-4 times thicker than standard and UV resistant. Price R400.

Jaco, I've heard bad reports from other Pajero owners who installed Iron Man shocks, I know of one guy who took them out after a short while because the ride wasn't very good at all. Do some research before you go that route.

Sorry to hear that as they really add value
I have had the spacers in the the Gen3 2002 for 2 years and have not had any hassles. 30000km. Everything feels solid and have original shocks.

good lift all round.

Same here,
Have 20mm spacers on my 2001 with original shocks and springs.
No problem at all.

i have had my homemade spacers in for many years still with the original shock and experienced zero problems. I did add airbags at the back. The handling, ride comfort etc is the same - after all, the suspension is still the same so how can the ride and comfort change. At one stage we toured with a rooftop tent plus other odds and ends on the roof with no problem at all (down Van Zyls, Zambia, Kaoko and Damara).

Keep your suspension standard. The Pajero engineers were absolute boffins!!
