2008 Pajero GLS shudder when braking
Hello Ladies and Gents
Advise please?
My 2010 Pajero GLS with 120,000 klm's on the clock started to shudder out of the blue when braking. It has not done any off-road for the last 4 years (mainly in the gerage) and used for soft driving only.
On recommendation from the agents I had the discs skimmed but it is starting again just 2,000 klm's later. really should'nt be. I am still only using it for the odd soft driving.
Is new discs the only option to sort out the problem permanently?!
Paul.

I recommend you consider Powerbrake. Google will tell you all you need to know. Last time I checked you needed about R8k for a full set.

Hi Kalahari
I had exactly the same problem on my Gen 4 2010 GLX. R35g later and some close calls it seems that we have sorted it out. (I live in Swaziland and there is not a level piece of road around here...)
After the shudder began I replaced the front discs with Powerbrake units. They are terrific and I thought I had it nailed. Subsequent to this after loosing rear discs twice, spending a week at a very good stealer mech, I threw the vehicle at a brake and clutch place. There a youngster cottoned onto the (rear) trailing arm bushes and found out they were cracked. You could only see this when under load and the vehicle is moving. This casued a shudder and all sorts of consequential gemors on the rear brakes.
We replaced the trailing arms (which comes with the rubber bushes) and problem solved.
I decided to drive around with the now warped rear discs to see if this really was the problem. I recently replaced them with Powerbrake units - what a pleasure.
In the process I went through several sets of rear pads. My service mech in Barberton found out that Landcruiser disc pads fit, and they are less than half the cost of Mits pads.
The above was my journey - good luck.

Seriously off topic (sorry):
Pajmugu2, have you signed up for the Barberton TITD adventure?

Thanks Roelf; thanks Pajmugu2. Certainly sounds like practical and useful information to work with.
