I noticed that if you disconnected the battery for some reason, the ASC light would come on. The vehicle had to be driven a short distance when the ASC light would go off and stay off. Recently I noticed the ASC light would come on and then go off while driving normally (without wheel spinning) but I could not fathom why.
I had suspected my battery for a while and battery tests showed ok but when the cold arrived I could hear a drop in battery power when starting. So out the battery came and sure enough the battery test showed it was slightly down. I had not yet related the two.
Reading on the Aussie forum advises that if low battery performance is picked up the ASC seemingly illuminates and goes off without reason. If this happens you can expect your battery to fail soon.
With a new battery I don't have the ASC light coming on any more !
