Recall: Directional Indicator Switch

Hi, I have received a recall notice from Mitsubishi Motors for 'a potential case of poor conductivity between the male and female terminals on the directional indicator switch/stalk connector'. Ok, anyone else received this (should be 22417 of us according to the notification)?
My 2007 Pajero is long time out of warranty and after Mitsubishi Hatfield (later Brooklyn) was no longer Mitsubishi, I opted to make use of a private person for services and repairs. So I have no idea which dealer/s are reliable in Pretoria.
I would appreciate any input on which dealer in Pretoria you have had good experiences with and would be a good one to visit for this recall repair?
Thanks in anticipation

I also got that recall on my 2009 Pajero. Will be taking it to the Mitsu dealers in Centurion. They said it takes all of 30min and is just a bit of special grease put in.

Have you been to them before? Are they reliable? Before Mitsu Hatfield (who were wonderful but are now sadly defunct), I had some really unpleasant experiences with my previous vehicle's (Nissan) various dealers and I don't have the strength to go through anything like that again.

My son bought an ASX for his wife from them. Had a few hassles which were eventually sorted out. IE - They are trying to get it right. Also got the notification. Will probably use them as they are conveniently close.
Would never service with them though - see my previous owner serviced there and they used engine flush and then an "engine oil fortifier"!!! Fortunately it was once off and only did a few km. Drained and fitted a new filter.

I have used them on the odd occasion in the past and they were OK, although I hated that the invoice had Hyundai logos on and not Mitsu, but that was long ago so maybe changed by now

. The evils of a multi franchise dealership I suppose.
If you have a hassle ask to speak to Paul Venter. He is the workshop manager (ex old Mitsu Midrand) as far as I know.

I also got the recall notice last year for my 2006 Pajero and had to take it to the local Peugeot/Hyundai/Mitsubishi dealer near Cresta Randburg. No problems getting it changed even though my car has not seen a Mitsubishi agent in years as I do all my own servicing.
Go and get it done as it does not take long, I drove in and waited about 45-minutes in total.

Got my "indicator stalk grease" recall done today at Mitsu Centurion.
No cost to me and I had some of their coffee. Took about 1hour and I waited for it while doing some work in their waiting area.
All good.
I was a bit dissapointed in them not using the opportunity to try and sell more services or stuff or even a new car to me, like a software check and update or even telling me about service specials etc while they had me, as a non dealer service user with car long out of waranty, right there in their showroom. But I guess they dont need the extra business

I actually asked about a software check and update and was quite willing to pay for it, but was told NO, It is not part of this recall but I was not given the option to possibly add it. Come on people - Golden opportunity here where you are getting all sort of possible new clients in your showroom and they don't grab it with both hands!.

That's how it is these days CATS, no urgency, which beggars belief in this declining economy. Shocking in fact. The only dealer that has ever followed up on a car purchase enquiry was Land Rover Umhlanga, there was a time I was investigating a Freelander 2 and the sales guy was brilliant. He wasn't pushy but he made sure he followed up 6 months to the day after my initial enquiry. I was impressed.

Some feed-back on the recall. In the end I took the 'Stallion' to Mitsu in Hatfield. I phoned them in the morning and they said they could do it the same day - that was bargain number 1. (the fix took about 20 min but it took more than an hour to get the car booked in and back to me. About 1,5 hrs in total).
I told them my story about the last recall (software, Jan/Feb 2008?) which resulted in an increased fuel consumption and less power. Following your lead, I asked if there might be a software update available.
It took 2 days to get back with a reply, but the end result was bargain number 2. No software update on record. BUT; They offered to put the car through a diagnostic test @NO CHARGE to see if there was another problem (such as dirty injectors or some such). In the past I have been quoted in the region of R1000 for a similar diagnostic test from the same dealer.
Appointment for the diagnostic is Wednesday.
Will keep you posted!

Hi, I also had mine (2009 Gen 4) done at Mitsubishi Hatfield, the admin took longer than the fix. They said the fix was to grease the contacts on the control panel. I was also surprised that no one approached me from their sales staff while I sat there. I also use a private guy to do the regular services on the Pajero. Thanks. Chris
