Hi Everyone.

I am completely new to the pajero / 4x4 world and need some advice please.

I bought a 1998 3000 v6 glx pajero about a week ago. Need to have it roadworthied, but the top back lights don't work - only the ones in the bumber.

Took it to e-cars this morning and they said the whole unit needs to be replaced. The quote from Mitshubishi is about R10 000 for the unit and I can't find anyone else in Rustenburg who has any in stock at a better price. Any idea where I can look for this unit in Gauteng area?

You say the "top back lights".
Please post a pick so we can be clear which ones you are refering to.

If you are referring to the lights on either side of the rear door, they're not operational on the South African models.

Thanks everyone - we eventually figured out that they work as fog lights and reverse lights (they were not mal-functioning brake lights like e-cars told us!

The middle white light works as a reverse light and the bottom ones work as fog lights - I'm just not sure yet what the top red light is supposed to do - or whether it is just there for show. The lights on the bumper works 100%.

There are quite a few vehicles out there like this. You will not believe how many roadworthy centres fail a vehicle because of "faulty rear lights"!

Some owners convert these to function as normal brake / tail lights as well.
