I'm home!

Hi guys,

Five years after selling my brilliantly simple, rugged and capable 1991 Gen 1 LWB 2.6 (UN-spec high roof 9-seater) I'm a second time Paj owner ... this time a 2001 Gen 3 LWB V6 Manual. You can follow the story on the other side at https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/sh ... hp?t=53510

Hard to believe the two vehicles are only seperated by a decade ... the philosophy and execution are lightyears apart. The Gen 3 looks and drives like a million bucks, but I don't think I'd be able to do the same things that I did with the Gen 1 (not that I would want to) and I certainly wouldn't want to get broken down far from relative civilation in the Gen 3. But as a daily driver and family car with real off road ability it offers unbeatable value.

Hope to spend many hours here in my new home (no other Paj drivers at work, so no chance of getting bust :) )

Francois

Welcome!

I hope the Gen3 serves you well.
Yes, the all-round independent suspension is most probably the biggest change you will notice.
Other advances made it an all-round better package, I suppose.

I hope you are happy here. There is very little of the 'banter' type action here (knowing Mitsu owners!), but good solid advice and friendliness.

Thank you!

Being in my customary period of severe and prolonged buyer's remorse and doing the analysis paralysis thing ... does anyone know what my car would cost new back in 2001? To be specific, the car was sold in March 2001. Anyone have an old CAR mag lying around :) Also if someone has a pdf copy of a period road test it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Francois
