I would like to know why my 2005 Gen3 LWB 3.2DiD engine is so low to the ground compare to the other Gen2 and Gen4. I've already replaced the suspension with OME and got 40mm lift, but whenever I do offroading, it's the engine bash plate takeing the knock. I've looke at many other pajeros as well as Prado's etc and they don't seem to have the same problem.

Is the engine bash plate low if compared to other Generation3 vehicles?

Hi Cats
I actually had a look at that and found that even if I do remove the bash plate, the engine is still quite low. I had the Pajero for a complte AA check before and nothing showed up that anything had moved in the engine bay

I guess this has to do with the fundamental change in chassis design from a "ladder-frame" to a "monocogue" in the Gen 3 Pajero.
ladder-frame:

monocogue:

I think the first question that must be cleared up is:
Jaco, is the nose of your car lower than other Gen 3 DiD Pajeros?

What I can see, it looks like it is lower. I've meseure mine, from the groung to the bash plate is 210mm, the bash plate thickness is 4mm. There is a protective plate behind the engine bash plate ,not sure what it protects but looks to be standard on the vehicle which is alos 210mm from ground.
Is this the correct hight? Is the only way to get more clearance bigger tyres than?
Thanks to all for help
