Hi
I wonder if anyone could perhaps help me.
When I put my Pajero to 4H or any 4x4 position for that matter, the centre difflock sometimes flashes continiously and it does not engage to 4x4. This does'nt happen all the time. It obviously is a problem for me.? Any ideas?
Thanks and Regards
Jerrie

When going from 2h to 4H, is this problem that you describe when standing still or while on the move, obviously at less than say 100km/h.
When going from 4H to 4L and back one should be at standstill and the gearbox in neutral on the autobox. This should see it engage in a few seconds time.

Hi Cats
Happens sometimes when standing still or when driving?
It started after we had the Gauteng gathering.

Hi Bullfrog
Mine did the exact same thing, but did at least engage.
Mitsu said it is some or other vacuum pipe on the diff. They ended up replacing the vacuum on mine after they refitted, rewired, rewhatever the pipes.. was about R2500.

Mmmm. Not normal then I would say. I have no problem in engaging, keep in mind I have the manual on the 2001 model. Maybe replace oils in diff and gearbox? We went through some pretty hectic water at the outing

so if it started after that it might be linked to that? Start with the easy things that can't do any harm to replace in any case I would say. But then I have a soft spot for new oil, so not very objective.

Hi
Dont know the technical lingo, but a friend had the same problem om his 2001 Did and he replaces something called 'vacuum switches' which solved the problem.
All I know is that the dealers quoted R12 000 for central and rear and he then got a quote for R4000 from BB Motors, if I remember correctly
Hope this helps

Hi Guys
Pajero put my car on the MUT. Could not find anything wrong. It would engage all the time while at the Dealer last week. This weekend however, I had the same problem.
Do you know of anyone in Pretoria/Centurion where I can take my Paj to?
Thanks
Jerrie

The intermittentcy makes me believe that it has to do with the 4x4 switches located on top of the gearbox. Maybe a loose wire or something? How good are you at DIY to check this out? I can send you pictures of where they are situated and you can have a look to see if they are loose or corroded.
