Pajero NP/3 inner backdoor opener

Hi,
i'm sleeping many times in my car. its pesky, theres no door opener, to open the backdoor - til now
i've posted the pics on instagram
1.) backdoor without cover
2.) original door lock, this rod we want to control (5mm)
3.) self made rod, made from 6mm stainless steel (no 5mm @the hardwarestore), filed to 5mm
4.) both rods connected, with a cable clamp. The nut is prepared with loctite
