Just replaced 2000 overheated /blown 3.2 Did engine with one that supposedly only has 145000kms. Was a good runner- sold on account of Auto gearbox packing up.

It starts easily and runs with no smoking.
Had hesitation on freeway, once of pull away and once on slight downhill - All followed by a puff of white smoke. !

Help??

saw your post only now and hope your engine is still alive.
I had a similar problem ocuring at irregular intervals but mostly when engine is really hot (after some hours of highway driving) or in very hot weather but in my case it was puffs of grey smoke and after a while it was ok again.
My cause of the problem was a leaking intercooler , i.e. the engine management system was "fooled" and "irritated" when someone asks for an increase in RPM (accelerating) but the turbo boost is not there to comply.....
