There is a wise saying: If it ain't broken, don't fix it..."
Just stick to your regular and punctual services (oil and air filter ) as per service manual and intervals. Please keep in mind that punctual engine oil changes and air filter changes not only protect your engine but also the Turbo.....Nevertheless, have a very nice Christmas and a happy and successful 2020 --also for your chariot.....

I would suggest getting the diesel pump looked at. there is a big bearing at the front of the pump that lets go and puts metal through out the pump and then it get really expensive. Ideally i have read its about time to replace that bearing around the 250 000km mark.

When the normal service gets done jack up every corner and check wheel bearings (see if there is side to side wiggle), with the pajeros you wont suddenly feel or hear when a wheel bearing is letting go. Replace with the oem wheel bearing as they last extremely long.

While you are checking the wheelbearings, check the CV. the fronts area usually the ones that you only notice are bad when you put it in 4x4. Check to see if the cv boots are in good condition. And when replacing please use and anti seize on the splines where the cv goes into the wheel bearing.

there is also a cam chain guide ontop, its a mall thing that needs to be replaced. the ones that came with the car get brittle and the plastic part of the guide disappears. new ones have a different plastic.

another thing to check is all the bolts that connect the suspension arms and links to the subframes. they rust themselves to the inner part of the bushing and then you cant adjust alignment or remove the suspension components. get them removed and put a hefty dose of anti seize on them.

the older pajeros dont have much that go wrong with them. there area a bunch of rust areas i am inimitably familiar with on them if you want to check those areas as well.
