MUT diagnostics Gen 3 Pajero

I am a proud new owner of a 2005 3.2d automatic Pajero. Changing from my old KzTe to this feels like an upgrade! One drawback is the electronics on the Pajero. Fault finding on my old Toyota seemed easier than the Pajero but I don't want to change back. I like the Pajero! Can somebody guide me in the right direction to fix some issues I currently have?
1. My 4wd indicator on the dash is flashing the centre difflock. I does not indicate which wheels are engaged and driving. What I have read is that this can be a switch on the drive train, but which one, where are they and how can I test them? I am an electrician by trade so I am able to test switches if I know what and where to look for.
2. When the Pajero is cold, it sometimes wont run. It looks like it doesn't engage drive. Maybe the inhibitor switch? Although if I test it, it test fine. I have stripped and clean it but the contacts is worn.
3. I have an engine light that comes on and it feels like I have very little power. It appears like the turbo boost vacuum solenoid is not working properly. What looks like a throttle body, after the intercooler and before the air enters the enjin appears to be sticky. This is controlled by vacuum. I have tripped and cleaned the throttle and checked the diaframs and they are all intack.
I was thinking of buying a diagnostic machine to help me find the cause of these problems but the Pajero's diagnostic protocol differ from the normal OBD2 protocol. What I found out is that the Pajero Gen 3 uses the MUT 3 protocol. What will be the cheapest diagnostic tool that will be able to read and diagnose these and other future problems? Is there software I can download for my laptop with a specific cable that I can use? Any diagnostic tool recommendations?
Any advice and guidance will be appreciated.
