Diff lock vs no diff

Hi,

I am a new pajero owner and I have a 2002 model.

It has rear lockers, my dilemmaowevver is that I am considering upgrading to a 2004 with much less km, chipped etc BUT it has no lockers, instead it has traction control.

What is better and why.. from a 4x4ing point if view.

Diff lock means instant traction if you need it in a cross axle situation, TC takes a bit longer to get you moving but it still works.

DL is really only useful when you are doing serious off-road work, otherwise the TC will be fine in most other cases.

how does this apply to driving in sand (e.g on beach/small beach town roads in Mozambique), as so far only been looking for a SWB that has diff lock

On small beach sandy roads you can get away with either, not sure you will ever need the DL though
