DRIVING IN 4HI

When driving in 4HI as I understand it the power is split 33% / 67% between front and back wheels. My question is this. Is the split constant or does it change according to change in road surface conditions ?

I think its constant and it only changes to 50/50 when the CDL is engaged in 4HLc and 4LLc

4H employs the VCU in the transfer case. Essentially a LSD in the middle. The more differential speed between front and back the more power gets sent to the front.

There is a succinct explanation here. Personally, as I rarely drive off road, 4LLC is not a mode I use very often so others will be better able to explain the practical/real life uses.
