Goodyear Tyres on LWB?
Hi All,
I need to replace my tyres quite urgently. The Pajero 2007 LWB came out with Bridgestone, but they are not A/T tyres. The last set I had was Pirelli and they were an absolute disaster! One was a dud to start with and had to be replaced after 20 000km, and the whole set really never felt right on the car. Nor did they last very long.

Anyway, I have had a good quote on goodyear A/T. Does anyone here have any experience with them on the Paj?
The next best option is Michelin (which I have only had good experience with) but they cost more than 50% more than the Goodyear, and frankly, that is a major factor for me at this point in time.

Your input and advice would be highly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Naturefan,

I have the Goodyear Wrangler A/T tires on my '99 LWB Pajero. I really like them.

Hi Stingray,

I had to make a decision quickly, so I ended up going for General Grabber A/T. Half-way between Goodyear and Michelin in price. But apparently very good on road noise and stability, which is a huge issue with my old Silver Stallion at the moment.

I have been struggling with what I thought was a speed wobble for a long time now, but I we have fixed and changed so many things (including the new tyres) and to my great disappointment, it persists.

But the tyres really are quite amazing in their own right - the little I have driven on them so far. Very quiet, excellent roadholding and a lovely ride (until the shaking starts). Hope they also last a while.....
Re: Goodyear Tyres on LWB?
I had Brigestones on my 2008 3L petrol Pajero in Kuwait. Never gave me any real problems except for balancing - but I put that down to the tyre company's inability to balance properly.
Purchased a 2008 3.2 on my return to SA in 2017 - paid almost the same price I paid for the 3L - but with 210,000 Km on it :( . It came equipped with brand new General Grabbers but I could not get used to the road noise, especially after the 3L petrol model). Anyway I changed them for Bridgestone D840s (80/20) at the beginning of 2020 and couldn't be happier. Vehicle is much smoother and far less road noise. :D
I don't do much of anything 'off-road' but have been along the gravel road to Breede River mouth a few times and around Kruger for 5 days in 2021 without any problems.
I note you've already purchased tyres but though this comment might be helpful to others.

Cheers

I had Goodyears on my TD5 for years and had great service from them. Tyres were the first thing I changed on my swb after getting it. You won’t get as many kilo’s out of them as some other makes but the reduction in road noise and great grip in the wet compensates for that.
