Hi Folk, Should of introduced myself when I joined
1. Name: Mike van Rensburg
2. Birthday and Age: 4th August – 66 years old
3. Town & Country of Residence: Hopeview Farm -Mount Olive Community – Barberton District Mpumalanga S25-36-527 E030-50-514
4. Home Language: English
5. Occupation/Business: Retired - Farming
6. Family Status: Married – Wife – Sally. 3 children all working.
7. Membership Of Other 4X4 Clubs & Forums: No Joined this forum in April – See Membership –“Greypaj”
8. Current 4x4: 3.2 DiD Auto SWB and Ford Ranger-V6 4 litre Super-cab, 4x4
9. Current Modifications: Winch assembly
10. Modifications On The Wish List: OME suspension + 35mm lift and rear diff lock
11. Vehicle(s) On The Wish List: Need some time to enjoy the paj.
12. Previous 4x4s: A number of Toyotas, SWB Landy, Ssangyong Musso, Freelander-(Wife's)
13. Last 3 Offroad Trips:
a) Ponte de Oura throught Moz Elephant Game reserve up to Santa Maria Jetty
b) Chobe then Maun – Flew over delta – Quad biked over Pans
c) Central Kalahari Game Reserve during antelope migration – fantastic
14. Favourite Destination: Favorite trip was going via Vic Falls and Wankie Game reserve down the escarpment to Tiger Bay and Matusadona in Zimbabwe in the rainy season. My wife’s first experience of heavy wet camping.
15. Other Hobbies: Photography and building renovations. Farming was a hobby but now is becoming a vocation
16. GPSr & Map Data Used: Currently have a Nuvi 500 and a Vista Cx etrex – T4A and Garmin topo
17. Rate Your 4X4 & Overlanding Experience:
a) Zimbabwe in the 80’s and early 90’s – The escarpment – Matusadona as well as the eastern areas like Gonarezhou. Would love to revisit old haunts
b) The pans and Central Kalahari GR. The solitude is fantastic. We are busy planning a pans & CKGR trip for end August'10. We want to travel down the eastern fence line of Central Kalahari down to Malopa camp and then onto Khutsi GR. The sand will be a challenge
c) Anywhere in Mozambique. Going through Giriyondo to the coast is great. No Traffic.
