Where to look! (Center Diff Lock light)

The CDL light on my Gen 3 starts to flicker a few seconds after I shift to 4H. I have to switch off and restart to cancel this. Where do I look to find the cause of this?

join the que!

Took it to the stealers and R6500 later (actuator and solenoid + labour), still the same problem. Now it apparently has something to do with the ABS! Any comments?

Firstly, since they did not fix the problem, take it back to the dealer and ask them to
  • replace the parts which they replaced unnecessarily
  • refund your money
Most of the Mitsu "disco lights" problem is associated with the sensors, and not the 4WD system itself.
Check whether the system actually engages 4WD. Often it does, but the lights indicate otherwise.

4ePikanini did a write-up about this problem.

does it flash when you go to 4h or 4hlc?

The flashing starts when I go from 2H to 4H. The front wheel indicators start to flash and then remain on, as per normal. As soon as I pull off the CDL light (orange) starts to flash and both the front and rear wheel indicators go off.

sounds like a sensor problem as the cdl only comes into play on 4hlc

the gen3 actuation is completely controlled by electronics and vacuum actuators.

Have the system checked out. You don't want cdl engaged when you think you don't. :o

And the drama continues! Over the weekend the autobox started to go into limp mode every now and then. Took it back to the stealers this morning and after driving it and putting their little MUT on, they diagnose a faulty ABS sensor right front. This is apparently also the cause of the flashing CDL light and replacing this will solve the problem(s). BUT, they don't have stock and will only get on Wednesday!

Added 11June:

I managed to find a sensor at another franchise, took the vehicle back to the stealers and whallah - problem solved. But it was too late - ek het toe klaar my gat gewip en die Pajero ingeruil!

And guess what, on my way home this evening my Gen 3 goes nto limp mode. I only get 2nd and third if I use the tiptronic and only 3rd if I leave it in D. The N(neutral) light also keeps flashing and the traction control lights are on. :x

I pressume I have the same problem as Vossie...

So where do i source one of these ABS censros and at what price?? :o

And do I really need to take her to the stealers?? They charge a hell of a lot without really doing anything..

:) turns out to be a speed censor on the auto box. Mitsubishi Tek in Boksburg helped me out this morning to do a diagnostic. Charge me R285 after I almost told Mitsu East Rand where they shove their 2 hours labour quote to ONLY do the diagnostic test.

They alsl have an old-ish harness lying there which they can cut the censor from. So touch wood, I hop this solves the whole problem.

But ps. Third gear has a hell of a lot of strength!!! pull away to 130km/h. in one gear
