Pajero suspension fooled me!
2 Days ago I was heading home the highway and heard a small bang at about 110km/h.

In the next 100m a vibration got worse and worse and I pulled off thinking a propshaft joint or weight.

To my complete surprise and disbelief, the left rear tyre was completely flat. On closer inspection is seems a bolt was in there that came loose (thud) and flattened the tyre pretty quickly.

I'm pretty bad when it comes to whether the car feels strange or funny, and I was dumbstruck that I couldn't feel that it was a tyre.

I don't know if it's the car ( this was my first flat ever ) but I didn't feel a hint of instability at all! NOTHING!

I feel a lot safer now driving around in my pajero :D

Marius

I had the same thing with my BFG's. Doing 90km/h on gravel I never heard of felt that I had a flat. I had checked my tyres before hitting the gravel after a trail and they were fine.

The first I knew I had a problem is when the tyre actually destroyed itself and the car fishtailed a little.

This is why I have tyre pressure monitors.

What did you install?
Tyredogs?

Cost?

Since the Touareg has it (on the 19" wheels), I got to rely on them. They saved me a very expensive tyre, when I developed a slow leak.

I have now bought a set of 18" wheels, which will be shod with BFG's / Hankooks (when the Lotto comes to the party). These don't have TPMS installed, but I want them, and will have to decide between OME (±$400 + import cost) or Tyredogs.
The Pajero will most probably get Tyredogs soon.

yes. I left the part where I didn't have a wheel spanner in the car and was very fortunate that dad's trolley jack was still tagging along in the back.

Digityre. I chose those because I don't like big sensors stuck on the end of the valve. They get stolen or damaged. These have sensors in the rim.

I bought them from a guy on 4x4comm - unused - for R1500

My only gripe is the enormously long antenna.

I also had that,

Not sure how long it was dead, but was driving a dirt road, about 8 kms, at 60+
finally turned onto a Tar road, and all of a sudden feel this thumping with a slight rock to the car, so immediately pulled over, and found 1 x shredded tyre.
