Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
Hi Achille,

nice stuff, I really need to look at bash plates for my Pajero.... and thanks for the comments on my report - yes, Pajero just becomes better and better in my eyes,
and the Tyres are really what they say they are, (with the new anti chip / cut technology in the rubber)
I really thought I would have to replace at least one tyre, and was hoping the sidewall damage would not be too much,
but it seems there was no damage at all, not even a scratch, so I am really happy about the tyres
(I did check out what the Landys at the top were wearing, and most of them had Cooper Discoverer STTs as well.

Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
I took my Pajero in for its 230 000km service at the agents.

Turned out a bit expensive as they replaced the rear brake pads and brake shoes. What really peeved me off however is the fact that they had no stock on certain items that I requested to be replaced. I wanted to replace all water hoses as preventative maintenance as well as all rubbers and pins on the brake system. They also replaced two perfectly good working wiper blades with 'titanium plated' ones, or so it seems from the price! They also used 'highly skilled' 'technicians' to drain my engine oil and replace the brakes at R400 an hour!!! :o :o . In the end they also did not even attempt a repair to a rear aircon unit bracket as requested by me, as they said it was influenced by my aftermarket rear tank and steel bumper!! This could easily been sorted in ten minutes if they only took some effort. When I paid and collected my clean vehicle in the cleaning bay I checked the service book which was not even stamped!!! Not Impressed!
I have always been a BIG supporter for servicing at agents, even if they are more expensive, but this last experience has left me with a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth :( Time will tell if the next one is gonna be at the agents again. Price was R4400.

I must however praise them for allowing me the use of a courtesy vehicle for the day as priorly arranged and friendly staff in general.

Marius,

Initially I hated tint, but I got my Pajero with tinted windows, and now love it! And it keeps the car cool, and protects the upholstery. And you have a fair amount of privacy. Ant then the "frikkedel" skollies are hampered in their smash and grab industry!

Your car looks cool (pun intended!) with those "shades"!

Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
My two main reasons for doing it is that SWAMBO will soon be using the car and I want her as safe as possible and then I needed to help the A/C along as black leather seats (I learned this from the passat I had) tend to get very hot (they can burn blisters when standing for a while in a carpark). Looks is a far distant third

Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
Just got Pumba back from my mech (ANG Service Centre)

Had the vehicle longer than expected due to non-delivery of parts from Mitsu, but overall happy with the work done. He went through the vehicle carefully, did all that I wanted done, and gave me a comprehensive report on what was done, and what needs to be done eventually. The invoice and the report run into almost 2 pages !!

So, 210oookm service, including:
Cambelt (and tensioner, tensioner and idler bearings (he also had to fit new cambelt cover seals as they hadn't been refitted after the last cambelt job)
Other belts
Overhaul of radiator and acid clean
Rear brake pads
Remove and replace all calipers and clean and lubricate a couple of pins which had seized.
Flush and replace brake and clutch fluids
and a few other things.

Total cost R8250

Looking at the prices being paid for services I am more thankful of that uncle and father that took the time to show me the ropes
