Gen 2 small silencer needed
My small silencer (front one) is leaking. It's been welded before but this time it's on top somewhere at the seam. I've been to the local dealers and they can't source another. Seems it's a dealer only part?
Can anyone please confirm if this is the case and/or point me into the right direction as I think it's going to be very pricey at the dealers.

do what I did with my gen2. Just pay the local kwik fit about R200 to replace it with a straight pipe.

Good idea.
Was your a lot louder and would it be OK with the fueling because I was told to have the silencer replaced because it would increase my fuel consumption?

Spending a couple hundred to give it a try is worth it imho

The straight through pipe may add performance and depending on driving style will affect your economy in a pos or neg way.

The biggest influence on economy is the driving style.

They found an inline silencer that fitted and sounds quite nice.
The car has a nice V6 rumble now!
Something like this - Ive never come across them but that doesn't mean much!

I took out the Cat being careful not to hurt the O sensors. It was clogged so the performance increase was noticeable and the rumble a bit deeper. Not by much, just enough to make the trip to the fuel pump a bit more bearable. :)

I don't think mine had a cat in there as there was no wires or anything on the silencer?
In fact I don't think mine has a cat - it's a 96 6G74.
BTW that was still the original silencer - lasted almost 15 years! And the car hasn't seen the inside of a garage the last 5 years.
