R110 /5l where did you find that? That is quite cheap for Delo or any decent oil.

That is a steal - even for cheap oil.Cobvs wrote:R110 /5l where did you find that? That is quite cheap for Delo or any decent oil.
I paid ±R170 / 5l at Makro - and that was cheap!

Hi Anton
Was at ST George service Center PE. Has no stock at present, but will let me know on Monday. He did say that this was the old price and new stock would be a a different price.
I am still willing to pay more of the preformance I am getting from this oil

The best way to silence the lifters is to over fill the oil a small amount. There is no such thing as a bad oil to day i use dello 400 but dello has recently followed all the other car oil brands and lowered the ZDDP to 500 parts per million from 1200 parts per million only motorcycle oils now have the full complement of ZDDP the main anti wear additive in oil

I would not argue with you about oils that I have no experience with, but be assured, my lifters "ticked" to a level of frustration with Helix oil, and now they are quiet. In both cases I over-filled to the same level. The noise certainly reduced when I over-filled with Helix, but now it is quiet. I see you use delo 400 as well. Did it have the same effect for you?
I do appreciate that flushing of the engine may be the solution, but believe me - as of now, and until another brand proves to be better, I am a Delo 400 - convert!

Hi,
I might try this but am worried it may damage my car as its a petrol and i just wanted some advice. Do i have to flush all the old oil out before putting the caltex dello 400 in and do i have to flush the engine also. The engine and oil was only changed at the mechanics in the middle of february and the engine was also flushed.
Thanks

This procedure is documented for the petrol V6 by mitsubishi. I wouldn't try it wih the diesel engine
Delo 400 can just be used with the next oil change. No flush needed. If you really want to flush then rather shorten the oil change intervals.

So is this an approved oil by Mitsubishi then? I am sick of the lifters noise so am looking to change the oil as soon as I can get my partner to do, it which wouldn't be long as it's annoying him more than me. So just to clarify he can just drain the old oil and replace with a 5l of dell 400? How long does it usually take untill the noise vanishes? Sorry to be a pain, I'm just bring cautious as I need the car for my kids, so ant to make sure it won't break down in me!
Thanks for all your help and quick responses.

The lifter tick procedure of the rhythmic revving is approved by mitsu. I don't know about the oil spec but I have yet hear about someone using delo 400 in their engine complain about it.cjmwlove wrote:So is this an approved oil by Mitsubishi then? This procedure does not always work. It is worth a try though.
Read up a bit more to get a broader picture and then decide what you want to do/use.
I have tried this - and it does work for the day. Tomorrow I need to do it all over again!4ePikanini wrote:

I understand that Caltex Delo is within the "approved" spec of Mitsu. It is one of the better oils - so I'd like to see them "disapproving" of it.
