Hi Guys
I would like to have my pajero 3.2 DiD 2001 SWB lifted by approximately 50 mm, i see that it looks good and it seems that my 1 is a bit lower than the others, Can anyone recommend me to someone in Cape Town and have an idea what the costs are.
regards Calvin
Hi Calvin,
You basically have 2 options:
1) IM - Iron Man
2) OME - Old Man Emu
Auto-quip can do Iron Man for you. not sure of the cost, for my Pajero, 2nd Gen 3.5 V6, IM was about 9K, IM is more of a lifting kit than anything else, there are a few guys here who have them and enjoy them, some guys have had trouble with front bushes with IM, and find the ride very hard,
I myself will be going the OME route. 4x4 Mega-world are their agents. OME for my Pajero is about 12K, although, if I do the springs and shocks, and leave my torsion bar for later, then I can also get it done for about 9K.
OME, offers a softer, more stable ride, along with better wheel articulation, and increases your load capability (all though this should never go beyond the vehicles max load) the only con with OME, other than a slightly higher price is that because it is not a 'lifting kit' your ride height does not increase by as much as with IM. (+/_ 50mm up front, and 35-50mm at back).
So What you need to ask yourself,is, are you going to be in a situation where better articulation, suspension road holding, load capabilities and a bit of ride height are going to be required, or do you prefer i nice increased ride height with slightly better but stiffer road holding and ride.
Stay on this thread a while, as all I have learned regarding IM and OME has been from this forum, so all I can offer is a 'consolidated perspective' whereas you'll get a lot of constructive replies from the guys that know their stuff shortly.
Another reason why your car could be a bit lower, is your tyre size, check that out, once again I'm no expert here, but seems to me the standard size (which is metric) is a bit smaller than what most of us tend to use (which is 31x10.5's)
Don't underestimate tyre size when it comes to ride height, as tyre size upgrades (if you can fit them) is the only true 1-1 increase in ride height, but if you can put in a decent aftermarket kit like IM, or OME, with 1 or 2 tweaks here and there, you can actually go from a 31x10.5 to a 32 / 33 inch tyre, effectively giving you an extra 1/2 or 1 inch lift respectively.
Hope this helps
Ned

I dont want to be biased towards OME because I am happy with OME, but read here: https://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/view ... =28&t=2028
Hi Calvin
Another GOOD contact for pricing and INFO for the Ironman kit is "First Alignment Centre - Stikland (Johann - also used by the SA 4x4 mag for tyre related info / questions)".
They fitted my Ironman kit + t/r/ends, b/Joints and did the 4 wheel alignment on my Padj. I was very pleased with the work carried out, courtesy AND PRICING (as I also bought 6x 31/10.5 R15 good name brand tyres - +-R350/ tyre cheaper than the other specialists).
Good hunting
