I have a gen2 2800 Swb pajero and we went away to die Dam for the long weekend and I pulled my camping trailer along, going there the Pajero over heated twice, I stopped each time before it redlined let it cool and then filled the radiator, I stopped at Gaansbaai and replaced the radiator cap, and it never got hot again, on the way back, at Somerset west I increased speed from 80 to 110 and the motor started to overheat, having my wife and grandson in the vehicle with me and because I was on the N2 and at crossroads understandably I could not stop. I slowed down to 60 and the temp dropped. I got home safely and took the vehicle to Headzone in brackenfell, they opened the motor and the head had a burn mark on no 4 Cylender, and it seems as if the conrod is bent as the piston is lower than no 1, I am having the motor redone as it has 290 000km on the clock, is this normal for a diesel to bend conrods and did I over extend the motor by trying to pull the trailer a little to fast. I use an antisway device (tripeziam), and a 100km/h should be no problem.
can anybody give me clarity on this as we intend to go to Kozi bay on the north coast of KZN soon and I must know the limitations of this vehicle.
