I have recently bought a LWB, gen 2, 2.4l diesel and am Slowly working at sorting a few
minor malfunctions.
Q1
The current issue is the headlamp washers don't work. I think the push button switch at
the end of the lamp stalk is the switch concerned (it has a very small icon of a
headlamp on it). Is this correct ?
With the ignition on and lights on, pushing this button causes a double click somewhere
behind the dash - presumably the headlamp washer relay cutting in and out again - but
nothing happens ! I would expect to at least hear a pump run ?
From a wiring diagram I think fuses 3, 5 and 6 in the PDC box under the bonnet are the
relevant power sources. These seem to be OK.
Q2
Can anyone tell me where the headlamp washer pump is located and how to access it ?
The reservoir is in the right front wing above the wheel arch, but cannot see how to
access that either - however it fills easily and doesn't seem to leak so not an issue
at the moment.
Q3
From the headlamp washer reservoir the piping goes under the right front wing and above
the wheel arch, emerging at the front, going to a threeway junction which is not a
simple 3 way joint. It seems to be some sort of non-return valve ? Does anyone know
what this 3 way junction contraption does ?
Disconnecting this 3 way junction allows water to drain freely from the reservoir so
the feed pipe is clear.
From the three way junction, the delivery pipes are not obstructed as I can blow
through them, although there have obviously been water leaks inside the rubber boots
covering the double jets in front of each headlamp.
So my first thought is to check the pump; second is the three way non-return gadget;
and last would be to do without headlamp washers.
Any ideas and comments appreciated.
Richard,
Firstly, welcome!
Unfortunately very few of the cars imported to SA has the headlamp washers facility, so that is why the members are so quiet on this topic.
You may find your fix in the UK- or AUS forums.

Anton

Thanks for the welcomes and advice.
Went to the POCUK site and found so much good info. Result is that I have decided to ignore the non working status on my car. An occasional wipe with a damp cloth will do the job more simply.
