GEN 2 REAR RECOVERY POINT
Hi Everyone
I did a 4x4 Drivers and Recovery course over the past weekend. Unfortunately we couldn't do a demo snatch as (according to the course leader) the standard factory fitted rear recovery point on my 1997 3.5 V6 LWB had been removed to fit a Hayman Reese towbar (with removable hitch) and this could not be used snatch. It stands to reason that I would want to refit the rear recovery point as we are planning a Botswana trip in June 2011.
Can anyone pse confirm that the Gen 2 is normally fitted with a rear recovery point and maybe load me a photo to see what it looks like and where exactly it is fitted? And I suppose the best place to source it would be from a Pajero that is being stripped somewhere?
Thanks
tonton

Elbgeo,

I am unaware of standard rear recovery point on the Gen 2.

Look here: Nino62's Hook at what one member did (also see the further comments and suggestions). Personally I would go for a ring, rather than a hook, but I think the hook will work well - especially if further reinforced as suggested by another member.

Re: GEN 2 REAR RECOVERY POINT
Hi,

The Gen 2 did indeed come with a recovery hook bolted on with the 4 bolts where the towbar comes. It was just a "flat plate" with a loop on it. I worked at a Pajero dealership back in the 90's, we always had to take off the recovery hook in order to fit the towbar.
Hope this helped

Nothing wrong with one of these.. I have done countless recoveries (and been recovered  ) with this..
