Steering column worn out???
Just been for a 100 0000Km service. I asked them to check the "clack clack" sound when I turn the steering wheel.

Answer, New steering column for 5k
Apparently, the steering shaft housed in the tube that bolts to the chassis, has bushes, which wear out. Firstly I think this is ludicrous.... it should be bearings, and them 5k for a new one...

Does this make sense to you?

Re: Steering column worn out???
get a second and third opinion. Don't tell them what the other guy said, just tell them

"Hi, I have been to another workshop and they tried to take me for a ride. Can you please look at this clack clack problem of mine and tell me what's wrong and the costs involved, I still have to get a 3rd opinion somewhere else as well"

mechanic : "what did the other guy say?"

you : "I'd rather you make up your own mind about this"

mechanic thinks - "I better get this right"
