Not even the iO is spared this problem.
Mine started last week while on my trip to Harrismith. The centre diff light started "flashing" when in 2H. It's not the normal flashing like when you engage the centre diff. It's an uneven on and off like wires not making contact properly. Or rather making contact when it should not.
When dirivng at speed (100km/h) the light seldom comes on and if I push the 4x4 lever backwards (away from 4H) the light goes dead. At lower speeds pushing the lever backwards has less effect, but I can see the light come on less. I assume that when the drivetrain is hot this loose connection is less affected.
If someone can help, my questions:
1) Is there a switch near the 4x4 lever that may be faulty?
2) Is the iO's Super Select similar to the Gen2? (This will make the research easier, although my first reading of Pikanini's DIY is a bit Greek to me.....)
I might add that the Super Select system works 100%. Switching to 4H works perfectly as well as switching to 4Hc and 4Lc. When the centre diff is locked I can feel the increased resistance when turning so the centre diff engages correctly.
Thanks Pikanini,
Assuming the iO has the same SSelect as the Gen 2 the problem should be with one of those sensors.
Now, to get to them...
PS: I liked the comment from Fasteddy on the American form.
"Archive the afrikaaner's post above please. best description of super select so far - in the tech threads I would think."
Did you advise them how to get Osama as well?
